When “Normal Life” Feels Like Too Much
Mascari, Brooke - July 2nd, 2025
A gentle message for women who wonder, “Why can’t I handle it all?”
Have you ever looked at your to-do list, your beautiful family, your well-crafted goals, and felt completely undone?
Have you ever caught yourself thinking:
“Why do I feel this overwhelmed? I should be able to handle this. Other women do it. What’s wrong with me?”
I want to speak to that tender space in you today—the part that’s trying to be everything to everyone, but quietly wondering if you’re just not built for all of this.
Here’s the truth I want you to hear:
There is nothing wrong with you.
You’re not weak. You’re not selfish.
You’re not failing.
You’re just carrying too much—and your nervous system knows it, even if your mind keeps pushing.
🤍 The Nervous System: Your Body’s Hidden Scorekeeper
Your nervous system is like the backstage crew of your life, regulating your ability to handle stress, stay grounded, focus, sleep, digest food, and feel safe in your own skin.
But here’s the thing no one teaches us:
Your nervous system remembers.
It holds onto stress, trauma, and old patterns, especially if you never had space to safely process them.
And when more gets added to your life—even joyful things like birthdays, babies, business goals—your system can quietly go into overload.
You might feel it as:
A tight chest when plans change
Nausea or stomach aches before hosting guests
Feeling foggy or frozen when your schedule is too full
Wanting to run or hide even when “everything is fine”
This isn’t laziness or failure—it’s survival wiring. It’s your body saying:
“This is too much, too fast. Please slow down.”
🪴 The Myth of the Woman Who Can Handle Everything
We live in a culture that praises women who do it all—who juggle businesses, caregiving, meals, holidays, emotions, expectations… without skipping a beat.
But here’s the truth:
You don’t grow your capacity by pushing harder.
You grow your capacity by building safety, slowly and intentionally, from the inside out.
That means:
Saying no when your body says “enough”
Eating to support your blood sugar (not just your goals)
Choosing grounding rituals over rushing into the day
Releasing perfection as the price of love
Letting rest be productive
This is nervous system healing.
This is hormone healing.
This is real capacity building.
🌼 A New Definition of Strength
What if strength isn’t “doing it all”?
What if it’s listening to your body and honoring what it needs?
What if you’re not supposed to become superhuman, just more supported?
You are allowed to build your life gently.
You are allowed to outgrow pressure and move toward peace.
You are allowed to say: “I want to show up fully, but not at the cost of myself.”
✨ You’re Not Alone in This
I’m walking this too.
As a woman who’s passionate about helping others, running a business, and dreaming of motherhood someday, I’ve had to reckon with my own nervous system limits.
Sometimes it shows up as anxiety. Sometimes it’s wanting to disappear when life gets too loud.
And sometimes it’s the slow, sacred work of breathing, simplifying, and saying, “I’m safe now. I don’t have to carry it all.”
🧡 If This Resonates…
If you’ve ever wondered why you feel overwhelmed when life is “normal”…
If you’ve ever felt guilty for not being able to hold more…
If you want to expand your capacity in a way that feels safe and sustainable…
I see you. I get it. You’re not alone.
And I believe this is how we heal—not by becoming more perfect, but by becoming more anchored, more honest, more whole.
